Woke up rudely with heart palpitations which took a while to get stable. Now I know how pple can die in their sleep....Too intense dreams ! |

1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust." 3Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler[a] And from the perilous pestilence. 4He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. 5You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, 6Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. 7A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you. 8Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the reward of the wicked. 9Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, 10No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; 11For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways. 12In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone. 13You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot. 14"Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. 15He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. 16With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation." |

Not that it did the past few years, but this year it feels different, hollow even. You see the post-coutdown crowd aimlessly roaming the streets, exuding half the life they exhibited just minutes before. hmm perhaps its the weather. Afterall the atmosphere was so surreal in prague and munich some years back. nah I think it just the lack of Christmas spirit here. bleah .
But to all my friends out there, A wonderful and blessed Christmas to you guys! |

High standards are important to you, and you do everything to meet them.
You are your own worst critic, feeling ashamed if you're not perfect.
You have the highest integrity, and people expect you to be fair.

| | tickled | ] | Read something on the straitstimes interactive which tickled me so. Wonder how a legislation like this actually leads such a booming economy. Gosh.
_____________
Taipei
THEY'VE fought with fists. They've thrown objects at each other. And yesterday, Taiwan's rowdy lawmakers had an old-fashioned food fight.
Legislators began chucking white foam lunch boxes full of rice, meat, hard-boiled eggs and vegetables at each other during a heated debate over whether Taiwan should spend NT$610.8 billion (S$30.4 billion) on weapons sold by the United States.
It was difficult to determine who started the battle. Local TV showed legislators yelling at each other as they sat at long tables in a committee room during a lunch meeting. Opposition lawmaker Chu Fong-chih stood up and began shouting at ruling party lawmakers when she apparently ducked to avoid being hit by an object.
'You've got no shame!' screamed Ms Chu of the Kuomintang after throwing a take-out box of chicken and rice at Mr Chen Tsung-yi, a legislator from the ruling Democratic Progressive Party, who backed the special budget.
Mr Chen grabbed a lunch box and tossed it back at Ms Chu, who had what appeared to be food stains down the back of her blouse.
'My whole body smells like a lunch box!' she shrieked to TV cameras covering the melee.
The food fight, which lasted just minutes, left tabletops, chairs and the floor littered with rice and chunks of hard-boiled eggs. -- ASSOCIATED PRESS, REUTERS |

You're orange. You're strong and have the reflexes of a tiger. You're overly protective, and those skills come in handy... You're a natural person, with a taste for natural foods (I mean organic, here.). Well, that's not true. ...Just food in general! You're as quick-witted as your reflexes, and sometimes painfully logical. You love wild animals and pets. (Preferably wild animals!) You're a natural person, and a true child of Gaia. You're a stimulating, and outgoing person. You enjoy making people think, especially with your infectiously spontaneous attitude. You're a generally optomistic person, with a love for showing off all of your good traits. Although many people may see you as strung-out, or just plain weird, you're very down-to-earth and humble. You're incredibly sweet (as this color's other name!), and you care about people in general. As this color would describe, you're energetic beyond all human comprehension. You've got a nack for drawing, and you enjoy it, too. When it comes to school, you're a good listener with an even better memory. You're studious... At least when you need to be!

Bai Hu - Tiger! Mythological Background: The tiger is associated with strength and the desire for a challenge. It is also associated with hope to win, or rather, the blooming season. It is also linked to meandering, or the ability to be in contact with a lot of aspects. The tiger also stands for war and soldiers fighting to the end, for the sake of their country.

One of the best singers in the competition has been eliminated. I guess it must have stemmed from the fact that Jeassea isn't singaporean and has not a big enough support base. I've lost half of my idol fervour and judging from some of the dismal vocal quality yesterday, I'll lose more as the season progresses. Jeassea will remain my singapore idol. sigh.
I just hope that more upsets won't be on the line ... hope jerry leaves in the next show. |

| Revenge is Sweet |
[Aug. 31st, 2004|12:00 pm] |
| [ | mood |
| | amused | ] | "Taking revenge is good for your mental health Swiss study involving brain scans on volunteers reveals that the brain derives satisfaction from punishing cheats
REVENGE is sweet. Many of us have felt that way, and now scientists say they know why.
A new brain-imaging study suggests we feel satisfaction when we punish others for bad behaviour, says the National Geographic News website.
In fact, anticipation of this pleasure drives us to crack the whip, according to scientists behind the new research.
The findings, reported in today's issue of the journal Science, may partly explain a behaviour known as altruistic punishment: Why we reprimand people who have abused our trust or broken other social rules, even when we get no direct practical benefits in return.
Brain scans of volunteers playing a game revealed that a region of the brain associated with satisfaction was activated when players penalised cheats.
'A person who has been cheated is in a bad situation - with bad feelings,' said study co-author Ernst Fehr, who is director of the Institute for Empirical Research in Economics at the University of Zurich in Switzerland. 'The person would feel even worse if the cheat does not get her or his just punishment.'
Human societies are an anomaly in the animal world, said National Geographic News.
They are based on a detailed division of labour and cooperation between genetically unrelated individuals in large groups.
Professor Fehr and his colleagues suggest that the feeling of satisfaction people get from meting out altruistic punishment may be the glue that keeps societies together.
'Theory and experimental evidence show that cooperation among strangers is greatly enhanced by altruistic punishment,' Prof Fehr said.
'Cooperation among strangers breaks down in experiments if altruistic punishment is ruled out. Cooperation flourishes if punishment of defectors is possible.'
Writing in an accompanying Science commentary, Dr Brian Knutson, a psychologist at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California, described as 'elegant' the experiment the Swiss team used to show 'this complex emotional dynamic of schadenfreude' - the pleasure felt over someone else's misfortune."
------------ Must let the avenger in me emerge :P |
